A three-layer wall

Every hive and nuc combines three materials, from the outside in, to protect the colony all year round.

  1. 1

    Galvanised steel

The outside. It protects against sun, rain, knocks in transport and rodents, and needs no paint.

  2. 2

    Polystyrene

The insulating core. It keeps the brood temperature stable in winter and summer, with little weight.

  3. 3

    Polypropylene

The inside, in contact with the bees. A smooth, tough surface that is easy to scrape and disinfect.

Made in our Zaratán factory

The process starts with the steel parts: they are cut, folded, punched and welded to form the “chassis”. It is then assembled inwards, lined with the XPS and the polypropylene.
